How the technique works
Cupping massage uses applied suction to lift the skin and underlying soft tissue, allowing the therapist to combine targeted strokes while the cups move or remain stationary. The mechanical effect increases local circulation and tissue mobility; temporary circular marks or mild bruising can appear depending on skin sensitivity.
Intensity, cup placement, and session pace are adjusted during an initial intake to address specific areas of tightness without overworking sensitive structures. Therapists adapt techniques to each client's feedback, and will review any medical considerations before proceeding to ensure the treatment is appropriate for the session.
What you can expect
On arrival you'll have a short consultation about comfort, recent activity, and any medications so the therapist can target treatment safely. The cups are placed briefly to create suction before being moved or left in place while the therapist applies massage strokes, all within the booked time.
Expect sensations of pulling, pressure, warmth and release rather than pain; communicate if intensity needs adjusting. Circular marks may remain for several days; they usually fade naturally. Aftercare commonly includes gentle movement and staying hydrated to support tissue recovery following the session.
